Sip of the Month: Oi Ocha Green Tea
I've had this tea on my shelf a while, it was a gift from family stationed in Japan. The label is in Japanese (which I'm not trained in) so figuring out what I'm drinking here has been a bit of a puzzle. With a little research I was able to put together most of the label: the big black font is the brand logo: Oi Ocha - which means something like "Tea please!" or "lets have tea!"

I'm resolved to practice juggling everyday until I can perform epic tea time successfully. Someday I'd like to organize a whole traveling tea-circus, inspired by the great tea performers (that I can find on youtube). I've compiled a list of inspiring epic tea feats for your viewing pleasure here:

Halloween is passed, and I'm already looking forward to future spooky seasons. To this end, I thought I'd share with you one of my favorite tea rituals - that is Tea-Leaf Reading. Below I've laid out a step by step guide to reading leaves, something you can do for yourself and your friends. All you need is a question, some tea, a cup, a plate, and an open mind to get started.

Stranger Things is back! If you haven't binge watched the second season yet, don't worry, this Sip of the Month is spoiler free. I wanted to share an Eleven inspired tea blend I concocted last year for Fantastic! Magazine, another fandom blend for your drinking pleasure - I call it "Eleven-sies"

I think we're all familiar with the most common cold/flu symptoms. The first and most important thing to do is hydrate. Thankfully, the myth about tea dehydrating you has been debunked- (I knew it) - so you can go ahead and put the kettle on.

Very excited to be trying out Dancong Oolong tea for the first time. Shannon’s family has been growing high elevation tea in China for more than 80 years. Overall we were very impressed with this tea: a light floral oolong with some surprising citrus notes. Can't wait to get everyone together to try the rest of our samples from the Wudong farm!

There are many reasons to care about climate change- if you drink tea, you probably care about your water quality and plant life. If you breathe air, you should care.

Tea makes my world go round because it comes from all around the world. Every cup is different depending on where it's grown. Because of this sensitivity, a plant like the Camillia Sinensis (tea) can be grown on two mountain tops, treated the exact same way from pluck to packaging, and still end up tasting distinctly different from each other in the cup. That's the Terroir, the taste of a place. This month I have for you the taste of two Greek mountain tops, courtesy of Katie O'Keefe.

At least one good thing came out of 2016- I met Not Just Tea at the Sugarloaf Craft festival back in April. They had samples of their Fruit Sangria tea blend which is to die for. I had the foresight to pick up a couple other blends, enough to hold me over while I anxiously await their return to Maryland. Here's their tropical tisane: Bella Coola
